PUCCI Stylist in holiday fashion...

Preparations for the holiday are in full swing.. Fridges are full, kitchens smell of fresh baked pies and seasonal cookies. The presents are wrapped and the tables are set. Cars are gased and ready to ride over the river and through the woods to grandmothers houses all across the land.

The star of the show at the holiday event stands just under 2 feet tall and is covered in a beautiful fur coat...

It's like the topping on the cake... The last ingredient to go on... The most important piece of the puzzle.

This week at PUCCI the last ingredient, the family pet, was washed combed clipped and spritzed to each owners requested desire. They came in smelly and went home squeaky clean fresh and ready to shine for the holiday guests!

The groomers put in long hours, love, and an abundance of energy to obtain their standard of perfection. Each groomer desiring only their best & striving for Hollywood glam to shine through with each pooch they finished. Taking the faces of smiling customers as their finest reward, a sign of a style well done.

Now it's off to the store for last minute shopping, wrapping, and a much needed rest before the busy celebrating begins.  They (the groomers) will do it all in 1/2 the time because they spent the proceeding weeks pampering and prepping the guests of honor for every pet loving home! They (the groomers) will do it all with a skip in their step and a smile on their faces, because they are proud of their accomplishments & the beauty they brought to so many loving homes. (groomers) (groomers) (groomers) I can think of a thousand words to describe... Can you name a few? Selfless, giving, kind....

Local Grooming Community called to action...

The story of a grooming community in action...
When you become a groomer you are welcomed into the grooming industry with open arms. Seasoned groomers post blogs & host social media pages welcoming newbies and offering their wisdom. The community is willing to help inspiring groomers to grow into educated professionals. The best way to get involved Is to attend a grooming seminar. It is a great way to meet the local grooming community & make connections in a casual setting. This group of pet enthusiasts & stylists come together to support one another as though they are a family.
Pucci Pet Career Studios is hosting a grooming seminar on Oct 11th. Included will be a silent auction, all proceeds will be donated to a local groomer who woke up in July with paralysis and is now having neurlological problems. A graduate from the PUCCI family's first grooming school 34 years ago. She has mentored many groomers and been influential in the local grooming industry.  PUCCI has sent staff over to cover her clientele and is now raising money.

PUCCI ROckS the Minnesota Renaissance Festival!

Last weekend was Pet Day at the Renaissance, and Pucci Pet Career Studios was there to show their styling skills! #creativeGrooming #MNrenFest2015

It took nearly a full week to prepare Poppy (Standard Poodle) for the event. Pucci students assisted Kristina Halloran (Pucci Instructor) in brushing and bathing Poppys long curly coat. They dried and straightened her tight curls, then styled her fluffy layers of fur. When she was color ready Poppy chose red white and blue! A French poodle, Poppy loves to show off her American roots! The PUCCI team of instructor led students first painted the pet friendly color into Poppy's fur and then wrapped up the colored area carefully. An hour later, Poppy was bathed, rinsed and under the blow dryer again!

Penelope (Chinese Crested Powder Puff) also attended Ren Fest 2015. The Pucci team, brushed bathed and styled the tiny pooch into a Lion Trim. PUCCI students assisted in adding Penelope's finishing touches, weaving rainbow bright feathers into her long silky coat. Penelope sat very still, clearly enjoying her beauty treatment as the eager students secured each feather into place.

With both canines in fanciful up-dos, PUCCI students (along with thousands of dogs, cats, birds and exotics) descended upon the Minnesota Ren Fest to enjoy Pet Day. The food, shopping and cast of characters at the festival was (as always) fantastic. Having the opportunity to meet and greet so many pet lovers in one place was a definite bonus.
Poppy and Penelope had a great time. PUCCI  made lots of new friends and Poppy almost had a chance to meet the Queen of England! Well a member of the Queens court suggested they meet, but the Queen Mom was no where to be found, imagine that!
Just another fun filled week of learning followed by a field trip for PUCCI students... Why wouldn't you want to join the fun? Www.pucciCareers.com to learn more about pet stylist certification at PUCCI...

Dog Grooming Career Classes Start September 8th (2015)

Another excited group of soon to be dog and (cat) grooming professionals arrive at Pucci Pet Career Studios in September.

Orientation day is always one of my favorite days at Pucci Pet Career Studios. Who doesn't love beginnings? Dressed in crispy new Pucci Stylist gear, carrying a bag of shiny shears, brushes, trimmers, and a stack of fresh, yet unread books, Pucci Tier 0ne students are geared up and ready to start training. They are contagious with enthusiasm, anticipation and pride.

Loving dogs is a requirement to pursuing a career in pet grooming. But not every dog lover is a good fit for pet stylist training. Potential Pucci students shadow and observe training is session. They assist with bathing and are invited to demonstrations. They are interviewed, their questions answered in detail. All this before being accepted for enrollment.

The Pucci student is more than a dog lover, he/she demonstrates patience, artistic style, communication and handling skills. Beyond valuing natural talent and ability we (at Pucci) evaluate potential students for their desire and readiness to learn.

It will soon be fall, by early spring, this same novice group of Pucci students will become confident, accomplished professionals. In a few short months, I will award each (now) Canine Design Specialist a diploma sealed with the Pucci golden paw. We will share tears, congratulations and hugs for perhaps the last time as we launch them on their career paths in the dog grooming industry.

Who doesn't love beginnings?

Grooming Seminars

Attending seminars is a great way groomers can keep up to date on the latest trends in grooming styles, equipment, and marketing techniques.

As lead instructor at PUCCI, I attended the All American Grooming seminar and competition in Chicago. Three full days of education on Difficult Dogs, Corrective Grooming, a class on thinning shears, and tips & tricks on various new ways to utilize the latest styling equipment. One of the most educational seminars was "creative add on's". This included instruction on creative grooming additions to offer with style appointments. I learned about adding bling and a quick splash of color to enhance the spa experience.

I am anxious to introduce students to these new tips and techniques. As well as share my experience with grooming seminars and their importance in the industry.

Kissing Stand

PUCCI Pet Career Studios had yet another successful even fundraising for animal rescues!

A year ago PUCCI students and team came up with the brilliant idea to sell puppy kisses for a good cause.

They converted this flower shop stand into a "kissing booth" throughout the year they will set the booth up outside the school during events to help out local animal shelters and organizations of the kin.

"$1 for a kiss"
Who wouldn't want a kiss from this stud with a red smooch tie and a spray of fresh breath!?

Events like this give the students an opportunity to get outside, give back to the community, and share their fur friends with other animal lovers!

It sort of resembles the ole lemonade stand on the corner! Who could resist?

Follow us on Facebook for weekly happenings and a chance at a kiss for a cause!

T-touch

PUCCI students are introduced to T-touch and gentle handling techniques for animals.

In addition to the seminar on T-touch students practice different techniques every morning before they begin their hands on training in PUCCI's real time salon and spa.

Pucci students and staff are pictured above practicing the art of T-touch. Who wouldn't want to be a part of a massage train with a standard poodle in the lead? Although this was not exactly in the "lesson plan" it is a part of the fun environment that is encouraged at PUCCI!

T-touch is integrated in Doga classes offered to PUCCI to students and the local community! Doga classes are yoga classes for humans that you can bring your dog to! There are moments in the class where the instructor introduces T-touch to engage yogis and invite their Dogis into the practice! The certified yoga instructor will also create an environment for adjustments and utilization of t-touch.

There is true benefit from the interaction of human touch both between humans and with our furry companions. Scientific research shows that touch, if utilized properly, can be healing to both humans and animals.

Grooming school!

Love Dogs? Consider A Career in Pet Styling

PUCCI Pet Career Studios a private vocational school (121 East Main Street Anoka Minnesota) offers exciting career options for the pet enthusiast. Pucci pet stylist career program focuses on dog (and cat) styling, pet spa and fashion with an emphasis on entrepreneurship.

Graduates of the program are in demand, "our challenge is training enough graduates to fill the need of the pet grooming
industry", says Mary Faith Moore, Director Of Training for Pucci, "jobs are plentiful, a qualified professional pet stylist can chose their career path."

The Three-Tier Career program is designed to be attended in full or part. Each tier provides the student with a set of marketable career skills in the pet industry, from entry level pet bather (Pet Spa Specialist), to all-breed pet stylist (Canine Design Specialist).

The entire career program may be completed in less than six months (full-time attendance). Part-time students are welcomed and receive assistance in designing a class schedule to accommodate.

Pucci students gain real time experience learning canine styling and design techniques while practicing on dog (and cat) breeds provided by the surrounding community.

PUCCI students demo creative grooming for Anoka Diva Days! Diva Dogs Anyone?

Beyond its state of the art training program PUCCI sponsors fun pet centric events for every season. Students are able to participate in the dog events! Last fall PUCCI placed third in the Anoka Halloween Parade, a float created by PUCCI students. This spring Pucci introduced DOGA, yoga class that you can bring your dog to! There is always a fun pet event in the works a PUCCI !
